The Client
The Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) is a regional local government working on behalf of six member councils located in Perth's eastern suburbs.
EMRC provides services in waste management, environmental management, and regional development.
The Challenge
Migration of important legacy data into a system that was more suitable to the needs of the organisation.
The Information Proficiency Solution
Install and configure HP TRIM, including a migration of all records from a legacy records management system called “Document Manager”. The migration included translation of security metadata as well as migration of electronic attachments including revisions.
The Primary Objectives
The migration component of the project consisted of the following:
- Analysis of the source database, including a discovery phase where specific sample records were investigated to determine the structure of the source database;
- Development of a mapping schema document to capture all the requirements of the migration;
- Development of a migration script to create HP TRIM records, apply metadata, apply security and attach all revisions of electronic attachments;
- Test migrations to review and assess the migration accuracy;
- Final data migration;
- Post-migration repair of records in error; and
- Post-migration indexing.
